The meeting of Akaki Zoidze with the Bloomberg Foundation Tobacco Control program regional coordinator for Eurasia

The Chair of the Health Care and Social Issues Committee, Akaki Zoidze met with the Bloomberg Foundation Tobacco Control program regional coordinator for Eurasia, Olga Knorre and thanked her for assistance of her organization in development of the tobacco control law.

“We discussed the tobacco control law implementation and e-cigarettes and tobacco product scientific studies and analysis, as well as the recent consequences of smoking. It is noteworthy, that we have initially included the standards in our law developed as a result of the recommendations of the WHO and are in compliance with modern approaches, however we shall also discuss the respective recommendations in the future to be reflected in the tobacco-related EU directives and the world tobacco control fame convention”, - he noted.

Bloomberg Foundation is the international organization on tobacco control operating in 80 countries. During the last decade, it renders technical assistance to Georgia in addressing smoking. During the legislative reform, the organization rendered the financial aid to Georgia and dispatched the expert to issue the recommendations for successful reforming.
