At its meeting, the Health Care and Social Issues Committee heard the 2025 Report on Employment Policy Planning and Implementation, presented by Deputy IDPs, Labour, Health and Social Affairs Minister Giorgi Tsagareishvili.

The presenter discussed the main areas of activity of the State Employment Support Agency, the services offered by the Agency, and key statistical indicators.

As Giorgi Tsagareishvili noted, the State Employment Support Agency is represented across all regions of Georgia and operates in 16 municipalities. According to him, the final regional service centre was opened in Mtskheta last month, completing the nationwide rollout of regional service centres. The full development of these centres is expected to be finalized during the current year.

He further stated that increased accessibility of services has been accompanied by a rise in the number of citizens using the Agency’s services.

The Deputy Minister reviewed the programmes implemented by the Agency and identified vocational training and retraining as one of its priority areas.

“The Agency financed training in 58 of the most in-demand professions and cooperated with more than 30 public and private colleges. More than 3,000 citizens participated in the programme and, most importantly, nearly 70 percent of graduates secured employment, which demonstrates the programme’s high effectiveness”, - Giorgi Tsagareishvili stated.

The Deputy Minister also highlighted the internship programme. According to him, the Agency increased internship compensation to GEL 400 last year and to GEL 500 this year.

The presenter additionally discussed the Agency’s cooperation with the private sector, relations with international partners, and reforms implemented in the area of labour migration management.

The Chair of the Health Care and Social Issues Committee, Zaza Lominadze, thanked the Deputy Minister for the presentation of the report.

“It is important that every citizen of our country is employed in accordance with their chosen profession. Given the migration processes taking place around the world, approximately 30,000 foreign nationals are registered in Georgia as job seekers. It is important that priority be given to Georgian citizens and that their rights are fully protected”, - Zaza Lominadze stated.
