The First Deputy Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Zaza Khutsishvili met with the members of the Environmental Committee of Independent Children and Student Union (ICSU).

He spoke about the activity of the Committee and introduced the legislative process. He introduced the situation in environmental terms for the last 25 years in Georgia and spoke about the Committee strategy and action plan. The gravest mistakes have been made years ago for encouragement of economic processes, he stated, which inflicted the gross damage to environment and human health.

Today, the Parliament strives to eliminate the consequences: adopted the Code of Impact on Environment; established mandatory technical examination of the vehicles; adopted the Forest Code and the Bills on Bio-Diversity and on Hunting.

The changes are to be introduced to the forest use rules. He introduced the new initiative of the Chair concerning establishment of the Committee studies and constitutes the Parliamentary oversight mechanism.

MP asked about the activity of the youth and answered their questions related to environmental protection and the world innovative methods for cleaner environment. He expressed commitment for cooperation with the youth.
