The Press-Conference by Chiatura Single Mandate MP, Malkhaz Tsereteli concerning the problems of the miners in Tkibuli

Media and Society 24 Feb 2016
The Press-Conference by Chiatura Single Mandate MP, Malkhaz Tsereteli concerning the problems of the miners in Tkibuli

Malkhaz Tsereteli appeals to the Government to actively and timely respond to the problems of Tkibuli miners until aggravation. “If the problems of Tkibuli miners are not timely responded, we may encounter social crisis”. He stated that there is the Social Partnership Commission, headed by the Prime Minister but the functions thereof are delegated to the Minister of Labor, Healthcare and Social Protection, David Sergeenko. “I appeal to the Government to consider this issue, to assign the Commission to discuss the issue with the employer and employees to prevent violation of the rights of both parties”.

The Tkibuli miners are in grave working conditions, sanitary norms are violated, the Company refuses to issue remuneration for extra-time and does not compensate temporary incapacity days, which entails decease of the miners. “As you know, working in mines is highly dangerous. Miners work on the edge of life and death”.

On January 8, Tkibuli miners appealed in writing to the leadership of the Company though no response followed. M. Tsereteli recalled generosity of the Government to the miners when they were dismissed from the mines for 4 months since January 20. “The state has collaborated with the Company with active involvement of Trade Unions resulting in agreement acceptable for Chiatura miners. Now this is time for similar actions”.
