The Speaker, Mr. David Usupashvili, the First Vice-Speaker, Ms. Manana Kobakhidze and MPs laid the wreath on the memorial to the heroes deceased for territorial integrity of Georgia

On the occasion of the Fall of Sokhumi, the Speaker, First Vice-Speaker and MPs laid the wreath on the memorial.

“Today, we are here to once more commemorate the heroes who sacrificed their lives for Georgia, for our homeland, for our freedom. Freedom and independence unfortunately claimed too much blood and our current reality and future is based on heroism of these people. Once again, we all shall bow to their heroism and continue heroic work for integrity of our country, unity of the society and prevention of blood-shed for protection of our country. We shall manage provide security through powerful state, strong economy and reliable partners”, - the Speaker stated.

According to the Vice-Speaker, this day is full of gravity for every Georgian. “We commemorate our compatriots deceased for territorial integrity of Georgia. We remember Abkhazia as it is our pain, we remember Sokhumi. What was lost with war and blood-shed, we shall gain with peace and love. It needs quite a long time. But the politics today in our country will result in restoration of trust and reconciliation”.

As the Chair of the Interim Commission on Territorial Integrity of Georgia, Mr. Giorgi Volski stated, this day is one more reminder for our society about gravity of war and loss what Georgia was inflicted in the war – lives of men and women.
