The speeches by Georgian MPs at the 11th GUAM PA Assembly

The Parliamentary Delegation headed by Giorgi Mosidze accomplished the visit to Chisinau, Moldova attending the 2-day 11th GUAM PA Assembly.
The second day of the session was open with the welcome remarks by the President of GUAM PA, Speaker of the Parliament of Moldova, Heads of the National Delegations of GUAM PA and other invitees.
G. Mosidze emphasized the conflicts on the territory of all four GUAM member countries and called on the parties to maintain it as the priority issue within the bilateral and multilateral agenda.
He thanked the Baltic Assembly for uninterrupted political support to territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia. The Assembly has discussed three points:
- Prospects of sector cooperation between the GUAM member states;
- Informational security in GUAM region: new challenges, goals and joint efforts;
- GUAM at the international theatre: activity and relations of the GUAM member countries within the international organizations.
Georgian MPs participated in the panel discussion.
he Delegation member, Giorgi Gachechiladze spoke about legislative harmonization with EU and touched upon the green economy concept of Georgia serving the basis for prohibition of GMO food. This policy facilitated to development of eco-tourism, he noted adding that 40% of Georgian territory is covered with forests being constantly under threat and requiring effective protection.
At the second panel, the Delegation member, Gia Benashivli introduced his opinions stating that he as one of the founders of the organization is serious about its activity and security issues. “We never stop trying to cooperate in this direction with European structures. GUAM countries share one common problem – territorial integrity. Russian Federation has occupied 20% of Georgian territories. Against this background, GUAM countries shall jointly confront all threats deriving from Russia, including the cyber-attacks”.
In the end, the GUAM PA and the Baltic Assembly made the joint statement and endorsed the communiqué.
