T. Khidasheli serves the official visit to USA. She delivered the speech at the Conference on Parliamentary Transparency in Washington, Stanford University of Freedom on: Future of democracy under the terms of technologic revolution”.

She attached her attention to importance of participation of society in routine activity of the Parliament. “Technologic challenges of the XXI cent. Require new approaches and political decisions from politicians. New technologies, social media shall not be considered as the target but as a very important instrument to be used to respond to society. We have the opportunity which no one could even dream of 20 years ago – to no longer be dependent on media interest, journalists, editorial policy of TV but to be in constant contact with electors. To speak about every issues of their interest. We have the opportunity to be in direct contact with society, speak with them, discuss and not be unilateral politicians from TV”.

She spoke about new technologies and noted that “we shall always use growing technologic opportunities but we shall remember that we are the part of the discussion, elected on the position not only because we are popular today but to be the leaders and use modern technologies to spread our messages in an understandable way”. On February 20 she will deliver the speech in San Francisco to speak about strategy to enact women in politics.
