Legal Issues Committee Establishing Working Group on Compliance of Candidates for Supreme Court Judge with Georgian Legislation

The Legal Issues Committee has established a working group to determine the compliance of the candidate for Supreme Court judge, nominated by the High Council of Justice, with the requirements of Georgian legislation.
The High Council of Justice has submitted the candidacy of Nikoloz Marsagishvili to Parliament.
The working group will be chaired by the Chairman of the Committee, Anri Okhanashvili.
"We have offered everyone the opportunity to participate in the working group, including representatives from various parties and non-affiliated MPs. As in previous instances, this time, the working group will also include non-parliamentary entities, specifically the Dean of the Law Faculty of Tbilisi State University and the Head of the Legal Aid Service", - Anri Okhanashvili stated.
The working group will have 13 members from the "Georgian Dream" faction, while the political groups "People's Power" and "European Socialists" will each have one member. According to Anri Okhanashvili, at this stage, other factions, political groups, and non-affiliated MPs have not contacted the Committee regarding their participation in the working group.
