Parliament Endorsing Amendments to Code of Administrative Offences Regarding Exceeding Permissible Acoustic Noise Levels

Plenary 16 Nov 2023
Parliament Endorsing Amendments to Code of Administrative Offences Regarding Exceeding Permissible Acoustic Noise Levels

In the final reading, the Parliament approved the draft law with 80 votes, concerning amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses in Georgia pertaining to breaches associated with surpassing the allowable limits of acoustic noise.

Under this amendment, the fines for surpassing the acceptable noise levels within residential homes, privately owned properties, or public institutions' premises will be raised.

"This bill aims to regulate acoustic noise, introducing a monetary penalty instead of a warning for the first time as a sanction”, - Maia Bitadze stated.

According to the proposed law, for the initial offense, the fine will be 150 GEL for an individual and 1500 GEL for a legal entity or individual entrepreneur. Upon a second offense, the fine increases to 500 GEL for individuals and 5000 GEL for legal entities or individual entrepreneurs. For the third and each subsequent offense, the fine for individuals is set at 1000 GEL, while for legal entities or individual entrepreneurs, it stands at 10,000 GEL.
