The working meeting, which will take place on November 4-5, is organized by the Sector Economy and Economic Policy and the National Competition Agency.

David Songhulashvili, Chairman of the Committee, Irakli Lekvinadze, Chairman of the National Competition Agency, David Narmania, Chairman of the GNERC, Nikoloz Gagua, Vice President of National Bank, David Onoprishvili, Vice President of the Insurance Supervision Service, Jolanta Taczynska, AA Facility Project Manager and President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Giorgi Pertaia addressed the attendees on the first day.

According to Jolanta Taczynska, competition policy involves defining and enforcing rules that promote fair competition between businesses and companies - "Thus, the aim of competition policy is to protect fair competition in the market in order to ensure low prices; better quality goods and services; wide choice of products and stimulation of production efficiency and innovation by enterprises”.

Irakli Lekvinadze presented a detailed report on the completed and ongoing cases to the public from November 4, 2020 to November 4, 2021, after the adoption of the approved amendments to the competition legislation.

According to him, 16,552 concentrations were studied under the updated legislation.

"Two judicial disputes in favor of the agency ended in 2021 in the Supreme Court, and the competition authority's judgment became valid. The agency began enforcing anti-dumping laws this year, and we will examine the law's key directions during today's meeting. Thank you to the EU project for making today's meeting possible. We will address competition and anti-dumping legislation on November 6 in Kakheti - at the regional level, with representatives from the local business sector, with the support of AA Facility” - the Chairman of the National Competition Agency stated.

According to him, this year the agency has completed the monitoring of Poti seaport services and related markets, while the monitoring of the pharmaceutical and automotive fuel markets is underway.

Irakli Lekvinadze provided the participants with detailed information on the January-September 2021 interim report of the automotive fuel market, among other important issues.

Members of the Parliament, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the GNERC, the National Communications Commission, the National Bank, and the Insurance Supervision Service will take part in the working meeting.
