Meeting of Giorgi Khelashvili and Nino Iobashvili with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Finland

The Deputy Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Giorgi Khelashvili and the Deputy Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Nino Iobashvili held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Nina Vaskunlahti to discuss the EU membership agenda and the reforms in Georgia.
Georgian MPs introduced the fulfillment of the EU recommendations in the Parliament, the activity of the Working Groups and the legal initiatives. Speaking about the EU integration process, Georgian MPs noted the progress achieved by Georgia and underlined the importance of the political support of Finland for further EU integration process of Georgia.
The parties touched upon the NATO integration of Georgia as well and highlighted the significant contribution of Georgia to the NATO security provision.
The Finnish politician expressed support of Finland to the EU and NATO integration of Georgia and noted that Finland continues supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the EU and NATO integration of Georgia.
The parties deliberated the grave humanitarian and human rights situation in the occupied regions of Georgia and overviewed the geopolitical situation in Europe and the challenges in the region. The discussion included the Russian aggression in Ukraine and the aid provided by Georgia to Ukraine, as well as the bilateral relations between Georgia and Finland and close cooperation within the bilateral and multilateral formats.
The parties agreed on the enhancement of Parliamentary relations.
