Maka Botchorishvili and Levan Karumidze met with the Parliamentary Delegation of Ireland

Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Maka Botchorishvili and First Deputy Chair, Levan Karumidze held a meeting with the Parliamentary Delegation of Ireland, headed by Joe McHugh TD, Chair of the Committee on European Union Affairs of the Parliament of Ireland.
The parties discussed the prospects of deepening the inter-parliamentary ties within the various formats and the importance of the support of Ireland for Georgia’s EU integration path. The discussions also covered the European Commission Opinions on the EU membership applications of the Associated Trio published on 17 June as well as the expectations for the European Council’s decision to be made on 23-24 June.
At the meeting, Maka Botchorishvili discussed the Georgia-EU cooperation agenda and the challenges facing Georgia. She thanked the Irish colleagues for their unwavering political support for granting Georgia the EU membership candidate status, expressed in the Resolution of the Senate of Ireland adopted on 14 June.
Joe McHugh noted that the vision of a united, free, and peaceful Europe as well as the European security architecture were seriously threatened by the Russian military aggression against Ukraine. Mr McHugh stressed that he will spare no effort to facilitate keeping Georgia high on the international agenda.
The Irish TDs commended the recent steps made by Georgia on the EU integration path, the positive dynamics of the reforms and reaffirmed their unwavering support for sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.
The Parliamentary Delegation of Ireland is composed of Chair of Committee on European Union Affairs, Joe McHugh TD and Committee members Seán Haughey TD and Ruairí Ó Murchú TD.
