Bilateral Meetings of Maka Botchorishvili and Irakli Chikovani in Rome

The Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Maka Botchorishvili, and the Head of the Permanent Delegation of Georgia to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Irakli Chikovani held working meetings in Rome with the Chairman of the European Union Policy Committee, Giuliomaria Terzi Di Sant’agata and the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Stefania Gabriella Anastasia Craxi in the Senate of the Republic of Italy.
The parties discussed Georgia-EU relations and priorities, challenges in the region, and the importance and role of Georgia in European security.
The conversation touched upon the dynamics of bilateral relations between Georgia and Italy and the prospects of strengthening parliamentary cooperation.
During the meetings, the parties expanded on the EU enlargement policy, the steps taken by Georgia in the context of EU integration, and the progress of the implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission.
A particular emphasis was placed on the reforms carried out by Georgia in the process of integration with the European Union and the progress achieved in this direction.
