Working Meetings of Maka Botchorishvili and Irakli Chikovani at German Bundestag

The Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Maka Botchorishvili and a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, Irakli Chikovani, held working meetings in the German Bundestag.
As part of the visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, Maka Botchorishvili and Irakli Chikovani met with the Chairman of the European Union Affairs Committee, Anton Hofreiter, Head of the Georgian-German Parliamentary Forum, Josef Rief, Spokesman of the SPD parliamentary group on European Affairs, Christian Petry, European Politics Spokesperson for the CDU/CSU Parliamentary Group, Gunther Krichbaum and the Spokesman on the EaP Countries from the Faction CDU/CSU in the Foreign Affairs Committee, Knut Abraham.
The parties gave particular consideration to the EC's decision to grant Georgia a European perspective, current challenges on the agenda for Georgia-EU collaboration, and the significance of the country's sustained integration into the European Union.
The participants of the meetings paid special attention to the results of the implementation of the EC’s 12 recommendations and highlighted how crucial Germany's political assistance is to Georgia's achievement of its strategic objectives.
The parties talked about the difficulties in the region and noted how Russia's military aggression in Ukraine affected European security.
The human rights and humanitarian circumstances in Georgia's occupied regions were also discussed at the working meetings.
The German MPs reiterated their support for Georgia's EU membership at the sessions and reaffirmed their willingness to provide practical assistance to Georgia in this endeavor.
