Mariam Lashkhi held Meetings at Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs During Official Visit

As part of an official visit to Canada, member of the parliamentary delegation Mariam Lashkhi held meetings at Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs.

During a meeting with Gallit Dobner, Director General for Eurasia and Europe Affairs, the Canadian diplomat expressed Canada's unwavering support for Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

While discussing ongoing political developments in Georgia, the parties focused on democratic reforms being implemented in the country.

The discussion also addressed Canada's support for Georgia's interests on various international platforms.

Particular attention was given to the UN resolution concerning Georgia's occupied territories, for which Canada is one of the co-sponsors.

In addition, the parties discussed cooperation in the fields of cybersecurity and military collaboration, including the international exercise MAPLE ARCH. Within the framework of Canada's Military Training and Cooperation Program (MTCP), 836 Georgian officers have received training.

While discussing issues of economic diplomacy, both sides emphasized the importance of deepening economic cooperation. Mariam Lashkhi provided the Canadian side with information about major infrastructure projects currently underway in Georgia, including the construction of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port and the development of the Middle Corridor connecting Europe and Asia.

Representing the Canadian side at the meeting were Deputy Directors of the Eastern Europe and Eurasia Department of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Glenn MacPherson and Julia Cloutier.
