Members of Parliament Attending Inauguration of Street and Square Named After Anzor Erkomaishvili

On the initiative of the Denominations and Symbols Commission of the Tbilisi City Municipal Assembly, and by the decision of the Tbilisi City Municipal Assembly, a street and square in honor of the musician, folklorist, and distinguished figure in the arts, Anzor Erkomaishvili, were inaugurated in the Chugureti district of Tbilisi.
The event was graced by the presence of Members of Parliament, the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Youth, Vice Prime Minister Thea Tsulukiani, Tbilisi City Municipal Assembly Chairman Giorgi Tkemaladze, representatives from Tbilisi City Hall and City Assembly, as well as relatives and family members of Anzor Erkomaishvili.
Giorgi Volski, the First Vice-Speaker of the Parliament and Single-Mandate MP representing the Chugureti region, addressed the esteemed guests during the ceremony.
"I extend my congratulations to Tbilisi and the entire nation of Georgia on this splendid day. Anzor Erkomaishvili preserved and documented hundreds of Georgian songs that had not been recorded before, leaving us an invaluable legacy. This accomplishment fills us with immense pride. It is our responsibility to acquaint our children and grandchildren with the remarkable figure of Mr. Anzor and the significant contributions he made to our country”, - Giorgi Volski stated.
During his speech, Vice Speaker of the Parliament, Archil Talakvadze focused on the importance of Anzor Erkomaishvili's creativity.
"Anzor Erkomaishvili demonstrated to the world that there is no place where singing is as remarkable as it is here, in this country. For this, he deserves our deepest appreciation. While he is no longer with us in person today, his legacy lives on, and it feels as if he is still with us, continuing to pursue his beloved craft”, - Archil Talakvadze stated.
MPs David Matikashvili and Rima Beradze expressed their gratitude to the Tbilisi City Hall and the City Assembly for their efforts in commemorating the name of Anzor Erkomaishvili.
The event featured performances by the "Rustavi" and "Martve" ensembles. To conclude the event, a symbolic unveiling ceremony of the sign marking the square was held.
