The meeting of Tamar Kordzaia and Tamar Charkviani with the PACE Monitoring Committee

The parties discussed the political processes in Georgia, human rights and national minorities, as well as the freedom of media, and the judicial system. The parties touched upon the detention of the third President, Mikheil Saakashvili and the polarization in the country.
“The meeting was very important since a lot depends on the report of the PACE Monitoring Committee. Hence, first of all, we discussed the situation in the country, the political crisis and the possible solutions. We informed them that the values because of which we became the CoE members – human rights situation is on a daily basis aggravating. We also discussed the right of justice and freedom of media problems”, - T. Kordzaia stated.
“I appealed to the PACE members for the support of our friends, Western partners to ensure the maintenance of the course we keep and to become the member of the European family. This support can be expressed in the monitoring of the situation and issuing the report”, - T. Charkviani stated.
