Parliament Adopted Amendments to the Law on Grants

The Parliament, at the III reading and under an expedited procedure, considered and adopted the Draft Law on Grants with 72 votes in favor.
The draft law was presented at the plenary session by the Chair of the Legal Issues Committee, Archil Gorduladze.
According to the amendments, funds issued by accredited diplomatic missions, consular offices, and representations of international organizations in Georgia will not be considered as grants if they are intended for, or may be used for, activities deriving from the political or public interests, approaches, or relations of a foreign government or a foreign political party.
In addition, the rules governing the issuance of foreign grants will not apply to organizations defined under the Law of Georgia on the Georgian Red Cross Society, nor to grants issued by this organization.
This rule will also not apply to grants issued by financial and credit institutions.
