The Delegation of the Foreign Relations Committee, within the framework of the official visit to London, held meetings in the House of Commons.

The Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze and the Committee members met with the Chair of the Foreign Relations Affairs of the House of Commons, Alicia Kearns; the Chair of the Education Committee, Robin Walker; the Chairman of the British All-Party Parliamentary Friendship Group on Georgia, Jonathan Djanogly and the Group members.

At the meeting with Mme. Kearns, the discourse included the bolstering of bilateral relations and cooperation in the defense and security sphere. The parties accentuated the importance of the strategic partnership and further intensification of the parliamentary dimension of the Wardrop Strategic Dialogue. The parties touched upon the regional security and the threats deriving from Russia, NATO enlargement and the support of Great Britain to Georgia at the EU integration path. Counterparts agreed to schedule the official visit of the Foreign Affairs Delegation to Georgia within a year.

Georgian MPs held yet another meeting with the Chair of the Education Committee and deliberated on school, vocational and higher education directions. The emphasis was made on the digitalization of education, implying the development of e-systems in the sphere. The parties underlined the importance to share experiences in this sector. Georgian MPs introduced the projects and plans to their British colleagues, including the adoption of the Education Code, enhancement of the vocational education scopes and the internationalization of the higher education system.

The meeting was as well held with Mr. Djanogly, heading the Friendship Group with Georgia, and the Group members; the central topic of the meeting was all key issues included in the bilateral agenda, as well as the issues relevant to Georgia, such as security challenges, EU membership, the milieu in the region and wider neighborhood, and the Russian aggression in Ukraine.

The parties dwelt on the upcoming elections in Great Britain and the returns of the Municipal Elections, as well as the approach of the British political spectrum towards the Russian aggression in Ukraine and the security milieu in Europe.

The Georgian Delegation is composed of the First Deputy Chair of the Committee, Mariam Lashkhi, and the Committee members Irakli Mezurnishvili and Khatuna Samnidze.
