The Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze held a meeting with his Armenian counterpart, Eduard Aghajanyan and discussed the bilateral relations in various directions, emphasizing the enhancement of cooperation between the Foreign Relations Committees of the two countries through the conclusion of the Memorandum.

The parties touched upon the regional security milieu and made a joint statement after the meeting.

“We signed the Memorandum of Cooperation with the Foreign Relations Committee of the Armenian Parliament taking our cooperation to a higher new level within the institutional frame. It is a very important decision deriving that this year we celebrate the 30th anniversary of our diplomatic relations, though the friendship between Georgia and Armenia counts lots of centuries”, - N. Samkharadze stated.

According to him, the two Committees intend to hold joint sittings and share experience in various directions. The parties hoped for further meetings to benefit our bilateral relations and parliamentary cooperation.

“We attach strategic importance to the productive cooperation with Georgia in various spheres, which is provided in the Action Plan of the Armenian Government for 2021-2022. I believe, our relations and the Memorandum we concluded today will serve as an incentive for the enhancement of our relations. We deliberated on the regional security milieu at the meeting since we are concerned in the security in the region. In this context, progressing to a new stage of our bilateral relations will safeguard this security. Our Georgian colleagues expressed their commitment and sincere will to play the role of the mediator in the Armenia-Azerbaijan relations”, - E. Aghajanyan stated.
