The meeting of the Opposition MPs with the Delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee and Security and Defense Subcommittee of the European Parliament

The Opposition MPs met with the Delegation of the Foreign Affairs Committee and Security and Defense Subcommittee of the European Parliament to discuss the situation in the region, the Russia-Ukraine war, reforming in Georgia and the EU integration.

“Two main issues we discussed were Ukraine and the positioning of Georgia in this regard, as well as the expedited accession of Georgia to the EU. It requires the reforms, first of all, the judicial reform. Our European colleagues have a full impression of Georgia and are well aware that all those mechanisms available were not applied by the “Georgian Dream”, - Giorgi Vashadze noted.

According to Salome Samadashvili, it was clearly underlined that our country cannot be integrated to the EU without the assumed commitments and reforms.

“We shall understand that today all friends and allies of Georgia in the EU support our country, our security and our future in Europe. They are aspired to see the Georgian EU membership application successful. At the same time, it is clear that we cannot be integrated to the EU without the reforms”, - she stated.

The meeting was attended by the Opposition MPs Salome Samadashvili, Giorgi Vashadze, Khatia Dekanoidze, Levan Ioseliani, Khatuna Samnidze, Ana Buchukuri, Herman Szabo and Pridon Injia.
