MP Credentials to be terminated for Tamar Taliashvili due to her appointment as a Resident Representative of Georgia to the Council of Europe

The Procedural Issues and Rules Committee discussed the termination of the credentials for MP Tamar Taliashvili.
“As you may know, our colleague Tamar Taliashvili has been appointed as a Resident Representative of Georgia to the Council of Europe, which is a very important diplomatic position. It is as well important for Georgia on the EU integration path to have a representative with professional skills. Deriving from her appointment, her credentials are being terminated”, - the Chair, Irakli Kadagishvili stated.
The working experience of the First Deputy Chair of the Education and Science Committee, member of the Faction “Georgian Dream”, Tamar Taliashvili in the CoE representative structures started with her status of a member of the Georgian Self-Government Delegation since 2017. In 2018, the CoE Congress elected T. Taliashvili as Vice-President of the Organization in Strasbourg. Within the Parliamentary Delegation, T. Taliashvili was elected as the rapporteur of the PACE Education, Culture, Science and Youth Committee in 2021, and later, as a Chair of the PACE Media and Information Society Subcommittee in January 2022. She was actively participating in the Georgia-supportive Resolutions in CoE and in the decision-making on the termination of the CoE membership to Russia.
The Procedural Committee has developed a respective draft resolution to be submitted to the plenary session.
