The meeting of Beka Odisharia and Koba Lursmanashvili with the representatives of the Center for Lithuanian Language and Culture

The MPs, the Head of Georgia-Lithuania Friendship Parliamentary Group, Beka Odisharia and Bagdati and Kharagauli Single Mandate MP, Koba Lursmanashvili met with the representatives of the Center for Lithuanian Language and Culture at the Technical University of Georgia.

The parties discussed close political and cultural relations between the two countries. As noted, the Center established 5 years ago allows the students learning Lithuanian language for free, visiting Lithuanian with various projects and getting acquainted with Lithuanian culture. The lectures are free for attendance funded by the Ministry of Education of Lithuania within EU project.

“Operation of the Lithuanian Center facilitates to enhancement of bilateral relations. Fortunately, we discovered that there are talented students in Georgia striving to learn Lithuanian language and culture. They already speak this language and I, as the Head of the Friendship Group have the opportunity to introduce real policy to these youth. So, I do my best to let the students see development of Georgian-Lithuanian policy”, - B. Odisharia stated.

The parties touched upon cultural projects. The students introduced the presentation on the proposals. “The meeting was important as Georgia and Lithuania enjoy the close relations, which is very important on the diplomacy level. It is important that the students in the Center mainly hail from the rural areas, which means that interest towards Lithuanian language is increasingly high in the regions. Their leader undertakes the greatest deeds. His interest to teach Lithuanian to Georgian people is very important. We believe that this is the most important - to manage communicate on each other’s language, to support each other and apply these relations in the region to further enhance relations between our people”, - K. Lursmanashvili stated.

MPs thanked the Head of the Center for his activity and contribution in bilateral relations.
