The Vice-Speaker, G. Sanikidze and the Deputy-Chair of the Diaspora and Caucasus Issues Committee, Sh. Kiknavelidze met with the Circassian Society representatives.

The parties spoke about Georgian-North Caucasian, namely Georgian-Circassian relations development prospects in cultural and educational spheres, spoke about restoration of the links, as well as the Circassian Language and Culture Day to be celebrated in Tbilisi.

The event is scheduled for March 14 to be held in the National Library. The translations, publications will be exposed, including the projects implemented by the Circassian (Adyghe) Cultural Centre. As noted, more Circassian youth express their will to study in Tbilisi Universities which will enhance relations.

According to Circassians, Georgia can render real support to Circassian youth in educational terms. “Celebrating the Circassian Language and Culture day is a very important event. The 2-day events will be steps to cooperation in culture and educational sphere. Tbilisi shall regain one of the most important functions: to be the cultural and educational hub of Caucasus”, - G. Sanikidze stated.
