USAID to Provide $67mln in Grants to Georgia

The Grant Agreement between the United States and Georgia for Development Goals provides for 67 mln USD in grants to Georgia. The grant volume may increase to 330.5 mln USD. The issue was introduced to the sitting of the Foreign Relations Committee by Giorgi Kakauridze, Deputy Minister of Finance.
According to the agreement, Georgia's co-participation is about 7.7 mln USD, which will respectively increase with the upsurge of the grant amount.
As the rapporteur elucidated, the grant amount will be consumed on several directions: strengthening resilience to external harmful influences (14.5 mln USD, with the prospect of increasing to 79.4 mln USD); Strengthening accountable governance to strengthen democratic gains (25.9 mln USD, including the rule of law, democratic governance, political competition, civil society, basic education, social services); Creating inclusive, high-paying and high-quality employment opportunities as a result of economic growth (26.6 mln USD).
