Meeting of Giorgi Khelashvili with Students Representing Ethnic Minorities

The First Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, Giorgi Khelashvili met with students representing ethnic minorities living in Kvemo Kartli, Samtskhe-Javakheti, and Kakheti regions.
Giorgi Khelashvili introduced the students to the specifics of the Parliament's work and talked about law-making and oversight activities.
The attendees talked about the challenges of Georgia's foreign policy and security with special attention attached to the issues of European and Euro-Atlantic integration of the country.
"We discussed issues of regional cooperation and talked about the importance of European and Euro-Atlantic integration for Georgia. Students were also interested in how the process of implementing the 12-point recommendations of the European Commission is going on”, - Giorgi Khelashvili noted.
Within the framework of the visit, the students visited the Parliamentary Palace and the Museum of Georgian Parliamentarianism named after Ekvtime Takaishvili.
The Information Center on NATO and EU organized the discussion with the students as part of the US State Department-funded project Public Awareness and Preparedness for Resilience. The goal of this project, which is being carried out in collaboration with the Office of the Minister of State for Reconciliation and Civil Equality, is to introduce young people to the workings of government and diplomatic organizations.
