Meeting of Maka Botchorishvili and Levan Karumidze with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia

The Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Maka Botchorishvili, and First Deputy Chairman, Levan Karumidze, held a meeting with Andris Pelšs, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, in Riga.
During the meeting, Maka Botchorishvili discussed Georgia's relations with the EU, the country's European perspective, and its expectations. The successful reforms implemented by Georgia on its path to European integration were acknowledged, as reflected in the evaluation by the European Commission.
The parties also exchanged views on the progress made in implementing the 12 recommendations of the European Commission. Maka Botchorishvili expressed optimism that Georgia's efforts will be duly recognized by European institutions and reflected in the political decisions of EU member states, including the issue of granting Georgia candidate status.
The current regional situation, including Russia's ongoing aggression in Ukraine and its impact on European security matters, was also discussed. The need for clear steps in the context of the EU's enlargement policy was emphasized.
The importance of Latvia's support as a friendly country during this historically significant moment for Georgia was acknowledged during the meeting.
