The Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, in conjunction with the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, convened a working session to address legislative regulations governing the use of pyrotechnics.

The session followed a discussion format, during which Members of Parliament deliberated over the preferred legislative model for pyrotechnics regulation, as well as explored additional alternatives to those proposed in the legislative initiative put forth by Armaz Akhvlediani and Ana Natsvlishvili.

It was acknowledged that a total ban on pyrotechnics imports could potentially yield adverse consequences. Consequently, the necessity of considering alternative approaches was highlighted. One such approach involves stringent restrictions on the use of pyrotechnics, particularly in cases where it is utilized illegally and infringes upon the rights of others. Simultaneously, there was a focus on enhancing the supervision and enforcement systems for these imposed restrictions.

Mikheil Sarjveladze, Chairman of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, underscored instances of rights violations stemming from the unlawful use of pyrotechnics.

Maia Bitadze, Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, addressed the environmental damage resulting from pyrotechnics usage.

The authors of the legislative initiative, Armaz Akhvlediani, and Ana Natsvilishvili, shared specific cases and personal experiences during the session. Furthermore, state agencies, within their respective jurisdictions, presented their perspectives on the matter.

All parties reached a consensus on the significance of formulating an action plan and promptly taking effective measures. The meeting featured participation from various state agency representatives alongside Members of Parliament Mikheil Sarjveladze, Maia Bitadze, Armaz Akhvledian, and Ana Natsvlishvili.
