Parliamentary Political Group Girchi Registering Bill on Weapons

"The bill envisages the return of the right to bear arms to those who once had such a right to exercise their official duties, but lost this right after leaving office”, - the Chair of the Political Group, Iago Khvichia stated at today’s briefing.
Under the bill, former police officers, former security guards, former soldiers, veterans, as well as former judges and prosecutors should be allowed to carry weapons.
"Everyone understands the threat that the whole world is facing after the recent events in Ukraine. At the moment, the Georgian Government, if the same thing happens to us, has neither an escape plan, how we run, nor a fight plan, how we fight. At such times, we consider it necessary to give people at least the opportunity to defend themselves, to prepare themselves as they imagine themselves to be, and to take the first steps towards this. Ukraine's success, if anything, lies in the fact that it has instilled in Russian soldiers the belief that all Ukrainians are armed”, - Iago Khvichia said.
According to the MP, ordinary people, not our military equipment, should be the major bulwark during a conflict with the adversary.
