Shalva Papuashvili: Georgians are particularly sensitive to what the Ukrainians and their Government feel in bravely withstanding such aggression

"Georgians are particularly sensitive to what the Ukrainians and their Government feel in bravely withstanding such aggression”, - the Speaker commented to the media in Bucha while visiting the war-affected city of Ukraine with the Speaker of Verkhovna Rada.

According to Shalva Papuashvili, the delegation witnessed brutal aggression with no limits in Irpen and Bucha.

"I have come to convey the Georgian people's solidarity with Ukraine, with the heroic Ukrainian army and people. What we see in Irpen and Bucha depicts borderless aggressiveness; it occurs in the twenty-first century, and this aggression is horrible; it surely reminds us of the footage and sensations we felt in 2008 in Georgia”, - Shalva Papuashvili stated.

As he estimated, the answer to this aggression and cruelty should be not only military, but also legal.

"As a result, Georgia backed the case to the International Criminal Court. We, too, are monitoring and observing how quickly the International Criminal Court is progressing in its investigation into the war crimes that are being committed here. Also, this is our tragic experience, and I want to emphasize to you the importance of documenting these crimes. International experts from France are also working in Irpen and Bucha to guarantee that all facts are carefully documented for local and international tribunals. I am here with the parliamentary delegation, which includes representatives from several parties, and I would like to show my sympathy with the heroic Ukrainian people, the army, the government, and, personally, with my colleague”, - the Speaker stated.

The Parliamentary Delegation of Georgia is composed of Vice-Speakers Archil Talakvadze, David Sergeenko, Levan Ioseliani, Member of the Parliamentary Majority, Beka Odisharia, as well as MPs of different political groups: Ana Natsvlishvili, Vakhtang Megrelishvili, Khatuna Samnidze and Giorgi Khojevanishvili.
