Meeting of Shalva Papuashvili with the Speaker of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan

The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, H.E. Shalva Papuashvili, held a meeting with the Speaker of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, H.E. Dünýägözel Gulmanowa.
During the meeting, both parties highlighted the existing friendly relations between Georgia and Turkmenistan and explored avenues for further deepening parliamentary cooperation. They placed particular emphasis on enhancing connections between relevant committees of legislative bodies and inter-parliamentary friendship groups, as well as the significance of exchange visits in the realm of parliamentary diplomacy.
The discussions also encompassed an overview of the parliamentary activities in both countries and the prevailing regulations in their respective legislative bodies.
To foster the sharing of reforms and best practices, a planned visit of the parliamentary delegation of Turkmenistan to Georgia in April-May of this year was agreed upon.
The meeting took place as part of Shalva Papuashvili's current official visit to the Central Asian region, accompanied by a parliamentary delegation. The delegation, led by the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, includes Kakha Kakhishvili, Head of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chairman of the Regional Policy and Self-Government Committee; David Matikashvili, Head of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of Turkmenistan and First Deputy Chairman of the Legal Issues Committee; Irakli Mezurnishvili, Head of the Friendship Group with the Parliament of Uzbekistan and First Deputy Chairman of the Culture Committee; Baia Kvitsiani, Deputy Chair of the Education, Science, and Youth Affairs Committee; Anton Obolashvili, member of the Budget and Finance Committee; and Sozar Subari, member of the Agrarian Issues Committee.
