Defense and Security Committee Approving Number of Defense Forces to Plenary Session

Defense and Security Committee Approving Number of Defense Forces to Plenary Session

The Defense and Security Committee heard the Deputy Minister of Defense, Grigol Giorgadze, introducing the government's decree on approval of the number of defense forces.

According to him, every year, together with the presentation of the state budget, the government addresses the Parliament of Georgia with the issue of approving the number of defense forces, and just like this year, in 2023, the number of military personnel of the defense forces will be determined by no more than 37 000.

The Deputy Minister introduced the draft Code of Administrative Offenses.

According to Grigol Giorgadze, the creation of the draft law is related to the closure of a legal loophole that pertains to calculating the fee levied for violating the terms of licenses and permissions granted by the Ministry of Defense.

The current law, in the Deputy Minister's opinion, leaves open the question of how much a license holder will be fined for their first infraction of the terms of their license or permission.

The proposed bill stipulates that the fine for the cited offense will be 1000 GEL.

Giorgi Gurgenidze, the head of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development's Capital Market Development and Pension Reform Department, presented to the Committee members the draft law on voluntary private pension and the legislative package that resulted from it.

The Committee approved the documents to the Plenary Session.
